Users of the Lynx Purchasing GP Calculator App on iPads and iPhones will need to update it following the latest software upgrade from Apple.
Buying specialist Lynx is updating the App following the recent release of Apple iOS 8. More than 8,000 chefs and other hospitality professionals have downloaded the GP App through the iTunes store, and will receive a notification on their Apple device when the update is ready.
John Pinder, managing director of Lynx Purchasing, said: “Like all App providers, we have to adapt when Apple updates its software, but we’re acting quickly to ensure the GP App is fully compatible and displays effectively on the larger screens of the new iPhones.
“With so many chefs and restaurant managers now using the GP Calculator App routinely to manage margins and calculate menu prices, ensuring that it stays up-to-date is essential.” The updated App is expected to be available in the App Store with iOS 8 User Interface updates in early/mid October.
The GP App is the first digital product to receive the Craft Guild of Chefs endorsement, and allows users to manage their menu costs using one of three calculations:
- By keying in the cost of ingredients and target percentage GP, users are given the correct price to charge on the menu;
- Entering the menu price and required margin gives the target cost price for ingredients;
- Keying in the cost of ingredients and selling price of a dish gives a readout of the gross profit being made.
